VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) is a naturally occurring neuropeptide composed of 28 amino acids, extensively studied for its role in cell signaling, vasodilation, and immune regulation. In vitro, VIP has been investigated for its interaction with VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors, which are associated with smooth muscle relaxation, anti-inflammatory activity, and modulation of cytokine expression. I have IBS and I tried every medication you can think of, doctors didn’t take it seriously, just told me it was something I had to manage. But it was so bad, I couldn’t eat my favorite foods, so I was constantly self-medicating, and even the best meds had a pretty weak effect until I discovered VIP. Now on a scale of 1-10 I’d say if the other meds took my IBS symptoms down to an 8 I’d say VIP takes it down to a 5, which is a pretty incredible difference and makes life a lot more manageable.
